Nancy Tin Foil Box Oven

My granddaughters just returned from Girl Scout camp. The question on both my mind and their mother's what did you bake in your box oven. Apparently they didn't. Then as the questioning continued, both their mother and I realized we had forgotten how it worked when we were at girl scout camp. So my mission this Saturday was to look online for a description. Not at all hard to find. In fact the page I found has several variations. And I had completely forgotten it required a camp fire. As hot as… Continue

Susan Sprague Backyard Pow-Wow

... a backyard pow-wow. We made head bands, actually, most of ours were hand beaded, but they could be anything from paper to cloth. We took two paper plates, with beans inside, for noise makers. Off these plates, we tied long stands of yarn or ribbons. War paint was a must for the boys, and we had rawhide strips to do tie the ends of the girls hair. I don't remember what games we played, but we had snacks we had renamed, a camp fire, where the Legend was told. Oh, fried bread was one of the ite… Continue

Nancy Fly! What do you mean, fly?

Nancy Go Fly A Kite!

The festival will honor planet Earth by creating both environmentally and thematically “green” kites. The competition is divided up into master kitemakers and children with awar… Continue
